Light artists Jan Wöllert and Jörg Miedza’s piece called “Electrolash” in Bremen, Germany, 2009.
These captivating never-before-seen images are the latest creations from the inventors of a new trend sweeping across the art world.
Killing time with LED lights and a camera after he became trapped in an old warehouse, 39-year-old PA Jan Wöllert found he was able to create mesmerizing shapes by moving his lights around in front of his lens while using a long exposure.
The creative mishap soon led to him join forces with office-worker pal Jörg Miedza, 40. Together they pioneered Light Art Performance Photography (LAPP-PRO) and took light graffiti to a spellbinding new level by introducing human performers into their images – themselves.
Since 2007 the artists from Bremen, Germany, have spent thousands of hours working on producing over 4000 frames, presenting 200 to the public. Their passion has seen them travel thousands of miles from their homes to find the perfect setting in countries like China last spring.
