
At a single time, the South African-born sculptor works with hundreds of pencils cut into 2.5-centimetre sections drilled with holes. She then sews them together (yes, patience is a virtue) to create lush, seemingly fluid forms inspired by sea urchins, those small, spiny little globular critters that cover the ocean floor.
